Bolsover: Council using CCTV to fight litter louts

CCTV technology is being used by Bolsover Council in their clampdown on litter louts.

Barlborough is one of numerous villages who have suffered during evenings and weekends from groups of mainly young people throwing litter, especially fast food wrappings, out of vehicle windows.

Using CCTV, however, the council caught three offenders in the act in Barlborough and issued £50 fixed penalty notices.

Coun Dennis Kelly, Bolsover’s cabinet member for the environment, said: “Using CCTV is just another weapon in our fight against litter problems and it has proved very successful so far.”
