Coun Place was joined at the opening by youngsters from St Mary and St Martin Primary.

She said the area will be well used by children from Blyth and neighbouring villages.

Coun Place said: “Local children and children from neighbouring villages are over the moon with the new park.”

“The equipment can be used by all ages, from toddlers to teenagers, and I’m sure as the weather gets better it will be a popular meeting place for families.”

Among the equipment installed are a mini challenger, - a combination of climbing frame with slides for toddlers, a flat swing and cradle swing, a roundabout, a timber climbing wall, a four seat tug boat, a see saw and a rope swing.

Headteacher Liz Piddington said pupils could not wait to have a go on the new equipment.

She added: “The children are all very excited about the new play park and couldn’t wait to try out some of the equipment.”

“It’s always good to see new facilities which get children out into the fresh air and running around having lots of exercise.”
