Blyth: 73-year-old admits drink driving

A 73-year-old man was caught drink driving in Blyth, a court heard.

Stephen Spratt, of Sherwood Crescent, Blyth, was followed by officers on 17th August 2014 after a member of the public reported his vehicle to the police.

Officers followed him to his home address where he failed a breath test.

In mitigation, the court heard that Spratt had had two drinks and did not think he would be over the limit and that he refused a third drink when a friend offered.

Spratt was disqualified from driving for 36 months, fined £110 and must pay £20 victim surcharge and £85 costs.
