Blooming lovely

GAINSBOROUGH is looking blooming colourful after several flower beds were planted up at Whittons Gardens.

The flower beds were designed by children from local primary schools, and the winning ideas were made a reality.

It was all part of the Gainsborough In Bloom 2012 scheme, to showcase the town’s best floral displays and green spaces.

The Best Circular Flower Bed Design competition called on school children to submit designs based on either the London Olympics or the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

And what creative ideas they had.

Walking down the Riverside you can now see their beautiful flower beds which boast flowers of all colours - including a healthy measure of red, white and blue!

The overall winner was Jack Brady from Corringham C of E Primary School whose Olympic rings design used different coloured tyres as planters.

Judges from East Midlands In Bloom came on Friday 6th July to cast their eye over the town’s efforts. And the results are expected soon.
