Bin collections still disrupted by ice and snow

But residents should keep putting their bins out as usual.

Some rounds were postponed because it was not safe for trucks to travel down ungritted streets.

And the council plans to catch up on collections later in the week.

With overnight temperatures remaining low, icy side roads made collections difficult on Monday and Tuesday.

Once the thaw comes, those streets where collections were not possible on Tuesday will be prioritised - as long as it is dafe to do so.

The council advised residents to put out their waste and recycling as usual today (Wednesday) but pleaded for patience if collections are affected.

It asked residents to leave uncollected bins out at their property boundary to enable crews to clear them as soon as it is possible.

Waste services manager Glyn Pilkington explained: “The levels of snow and ice on untreated road surfaces in some rural areas and urban side streets made it unwise to operate heavy machinery in these areas, or for teams to be lifting and carrying heavy waste long distances over slippery surfaces.”

Bins in the following areas were not collected on Tuesday, and attempts will be made to collect these today along with those properties missed on Monday.

Waddingham - Lane parallel with the Village Green that backs up to Village Hall, all Silver Street, The Wolds, Rose Mount Lane, Waddingham behind Church, Church Lane - three furthest farms, Grange Lane Blyborough onto Farm Holdings.

Glentham - Washdyke Lane plus all back lanes

Gainsborough - Riverside Approach large bins
