Bikers raise £2,000 for the Air Ambulance

More than 150 motorcyclists rode a 115-mile route from Waddington to Gunthorpe and back in the charity’s first ever official motorcycle ride out.

The large convoy of bikers stopped off at The Unicorn Hotel on the banks of the River Trent.

Karen Carter, community fund-raiser for the Air Ambulance, said: “A huge thanks goes to all of the bikers for their continued support of our vital Air Ambulance.

“It is massively appreciated.

“It’s only thanks to the generous support of our local communities that we can keep flying, saving lives and improving outcomes for patients.”

The team of biker marshals at Ride To Save Lives consisted of Roy Radford and the Sherwood Chapter Harley Owners Group (HOG), Roland Johns (the lead rider for the event) and the Lincoln Riders Association of Triumph (RAT) Pack, plus Lincolnshire Advanced Motorcyclists (IAM).

As the LANAA receives no direct Government funding, it relies on the support of its local communities to raise £1.9 million every year to keep the helicopter flying, saving lives and improving outcomes for patients 365 days a year.

It attends on average between two and three missions a day, and each mission costs the charity approximately £2,100.
