Known as the SCR Authority, the legal body aims to allow for more efficient decision making for the city region - in particular taking on devolved powers and funding from Government.

Bassetlaw Council leader Simon Greaves: “Bassetlaw has been a part of the Sheffield City Region Authority since its inception and this agreement rubber-stamps an opportunity not only for the region to grow, but for Bassetlaw to grow with it,” he said.
“Being part of the SCR Authority will provide a vehicle for developing growth, jobs, investment and funding for Bassetlaw over the coming years.”
The area that the nine local authorities represents have a combined economic output of more than £27 billion pounds per year and is home to approximately 1.8 million people, 55,000 businesses and 700,000 jobs.
