Beth Stuart opted to have her hair cut during the party at the Shireoaks in Westgate, Worksop.

Beth said: “I have a long plait which will be sent off towards making wigs for children with illnesses such as cancer and alopecia.

“They can’t make wigs for every child so sometimes they buy them from other wigmakers and can cost £600 each.

“So I have been collecting sponsors and donations over the past two months.”

Anyone who sponsored Beth was also given the chance to vote for a colour which Beth would dye her hair after the chop and the chosen colour was purple.

Other colours voted for included pink, green and rainbow colours.

Beth added: “I put them all in a hat and picked one out.

“In total, alongside a bucket collection in the pub, I raised £416.70.

“It was a fun day and well worthwhile for the charities we raised the money for.”

As well as Beth’s hair chop the St George’s Day celebrations also included a barbecue, facepainting, a raffle, a bake sale which incluided a St Georges cake.

These events helped raise £234 for JDRF, the children’s Type 1 diabetes charity.
