Bestwood youth hid cannabis in air freshener

Tyler Jordan Beach, 19, of Lodge Drive, admitted possessing a small quantity of the Class B drug when he appeared before Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Monday.

Lee Shepherd, prosecuting, said staff at the residential care home for people with mental health problems, where Beach lives, smelled the drug on June 2 and discovered it in the air freshener lid.

Vicky Clayton, mitigating, said Beach suffered from Tourette Syndrome, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and a personality disorder.

She said: “He has been in care since he was 14. He tells me he was clean of cannabis for 89 days and that is something he is very proud of.”

She said another resident at the home gave him the cannabis, but added that Beach had since managed to find a college place in Nottingham to study music production.

He was given a 12 month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £85 costs and a victim surcharge of £20.
