Behaviour mentor smashed in partner's door in Sutton

Jerome Ellis caused £200 of damage to the door on Elderfield Drive, on July 10, after a verbal altercation, and police were called by neighbours who said he was “angry and aggressive”.

He told police he and his partner had a “rocky relationship”, but he had been concerned about her safety because she suffers from depression.

He told the court his mother and his partner had argued moments before his arrival.

“I am a worrier and I wanted to get inside,” he said. “She thought I had come as an angry man. I smashed the door.”

Ellis, 25, of Andover Road, Nottingham, who has no previous convictions, admitted criminal damage, when he appeared at Mansfield Magistrates Court, on Wednesday.

He was given a 12 month conditional discharge, and was ordered to pay for the door, as well as £85 costs and a £25 government surcharge.
