Following the publication of the report into child sex abuse in Rotherham by Prof Alexis Jay, Mr Mann wrote to the panel regarding his complaint that Shaun Wright may be guilty of misconduct in public office after he failed to act on previous abuse inquiry reports.

Rotherham Council leader Roger Stone and chief executive Martin Kimber have both quit over the scandal.

But Mr Wright has so far remained in his post despite sustained calls for him to go.

“Alexis Jay’s report showed that people in positions of authority repeatedly failed the children of Rotherham,” said Mr Mann,

“Shaun Wright cannot be sacked and despite the ongoing pressure he doesn’t have the decency to resign.”

“Should the IPCC determine that the matter requires investigation then this may see this disgraced public official removed from office.”

“My hope is that the IPCC conducts a full and frank investigation into my complaint.”
