Bassetlaw: John Mann commends Harworth store for installing life-saving equipment

The public access defibrillator in the Asda Supermarket on Scrooby Road, Harworth can be used by any member of the public to deliver an electric shock to the heart when someone is having a cardiac arrest.

The move ensures the store’s customers, colleagues and people in surrounding communities will have the best chance of survival by making the life-saving intervention available while an ambulance crew is on its way.

John Mann said: “I’m imipressed by what I’ve seen.”

“This is great for the local community and the Harworth store are to be commended for embarking on such a very ambitious project on such a grand scale.”

“It is important that people not only know where they are, but how to use them as well.”

“This is undoubtedly good news for residents in the area and I’m delighted to support this initiative,” he added.

Richard Terry, store manager at Asda Harworth, added: “We want the people in the local community to have the best chance of survival if cardiac arrest strikes.”

“It can take a number of minutes for an ambulance to reach one of our stores in response to an emergency like a cardiac arrest.”
