This is all part of the hospital’s major development plan.

Some of the key services which will be improved are: diabetes outpatients, training and education, mortuary and medical records.

Chief Executive of Doncaster and Bassetlaw Hospitals, Mike Pinkerton, said: “This further investment in Bassetlaw Hospital is great news for patients and staff, enabling us to bring forward our plans to bring our services into modern, purpose designed accommodation within a significantly expanded main hospital building.”

“When the Victoria Hospital closed and the Bassetlaw Hospital was constructed, there was not enough money to complete the job. We are now in a position, with support from the Department of Health and our local partners, to do just that and ensure that Bassetlaw has all the facilities it needs to deliver modern, safe and effective healthcare.”

The Trust will be submitting plans to the Council soon and hope to start work on the new accommodation later in the year.
