NHS Bassetlaw Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), who are responsible for planning and buying health services on behalf of the area’s 111,000 patients, is running the event on Wednesday 3rd July to give service users the opportunity to talk about their experiences from a learning disabilities perspective so they can make any improvements.

Kazia Foster, partnerships service development manager at NHS Bassetlaw CCG said: “The Big Health Day gives us, and our partner organisations, the chance to hear about any ideas or issues that our service users with learning disabilities may have so we can listen and learn from the people who actually use the services and then make any suggested improvements.”

“The event is part of the annual national self-assessment that we complete to review the accessibility and usability of local services for people with learning disabilities.”

“We will be telling people about our plans for 2013 but will also review progress made from last year’s Big Health Day and look at how services can improve further.”

More than 60 people including service users, carers, health and social care professionals and community and voluntary sector representatives attended the event last year and took part in workshops designed to gain feedback regarding their experiences.

The Bassetlaw Big Health Day will take place at The Crossing, Newcastle Avenue from 11am to 3pm.

Refreshments and lunch will be provided and help with transport is available if required. To book a place, or to find out more about the day, call Sophia Johnson on 01777 863313.
