The Food Information Regulations are new allergen labelling laws and businesses will have a legal responsibility to provide the correct allergen information about the ingredients that is in the food they make or serve to customers

According to statistics provided by the Food Standards agency, about two million people in the UK have a Food Allergy and, according to statistics, this number is growing.

These people currently find eating out extremely challenging, meaning they choose destinations they trust with very careful planning.

Coun Julie Leigh, cabinet member for Neighbourhoods at Bassetlaw District Council said:“Allergic reactions can make people very ill and can sometimes even lead to death!”

“There is no cure for people suffering with a food allergy and the only way someone can avoid getting ill is to make sure they don’t eat the foods they are allergic to.”

To help prepare for the new legislation, Bassetlaw District Council, in partnership with North Notts College’s Food Technology Centre is running a series of Allergy Awareness Training courses.
