New dog control legislation will be coming into force across Bassetlaw next month.

From Tuesday, September 1, fines of up to £1000 can be issued for offences such as failing to pick up dog mess or walking a dog without a lead in designated public spaces.

The new Public Space Protection Order follows a two month consultation with the public in February and March.

Coun Julie Leigh, cabinet member for neighbourhoods, said: “After much discussion with the general public and lots of constructive feedback I am happy to see the new dog control order put into practice this September.
