Bassetlaw Council back Legion service for Forces families

The project will see an increased Legion presence in Worksop to support former military personnel and their households.

Bassetlaw is one of a number of planned outreach locations across the East Midlands which will offer a dedicated support worker working with those in need of help and advice.

Linda Flecknel, area manager for the charity, said: “Inspired by those we support, our aim is to offer the breadth, depth and quality of service they deserve.

“We cannot do this on our own and welcome collaborative working within communities and a local footprint in the community across the East Midlands Area is vital.”

As of Thursday, February 2, the service will be accessible at the council offices, Queen’s Buildings, Potter Street, 10am to 12.30pm, on the first Thursday of every month.

Councillor Kevin Dukes said: “I’ve no doubt the Legion’s increased presence will be of great benefit to individuals and families in our district.

“Tthis initiative will only strengthen an already productive and successful partnership.”
