Bassetlaw: A ‘Royle’ launch for John Mann’s election campaign

Ricky Tomlinson, best known for playing Jim Royle in the hit series The Royle Family, launched John Mann’s election campaign to a packed-out Manton Club on Thursday 19th March.

Mr Mann, MP for Bassetlaw, said: “It was great to be joined by so many supporters to hear Ricky’s experiences as a campaigner and as an actor.”

“Having been blacklisted from work myself, I have long supported Ricky’s work to protect working people from the abuse of power.”

“Ricky talked about his experience of taking industrial action when he worked as a plasterer and then being imprisoned on spurious charges.”

“Hundreds of people came along to the night and many said it was a great start for the weeks to come. There was a great team spirit with people committing to delivering leaflets and to knock on doors.”

“This election is critical because it’s about the future of our NHS. It will be the difference between a paid for service or one that remains free at the point of delivery.”
