The cardiac rehabilitation team, along with their manager Wendy Cooke, were presented with the accolade in a surprise ceremony at the hospital on Tuesday September 1.

Marjorie Atkinson, a former cardiac patient who has since gone on to volunteer for the team, thought a Guardian Rose nomination would be the perfect way to say thank you.

Marjorie said: “I can’t thank the amazing staff enough for everything they have done for me.”

Dawn Smith, cardiac rehabilitation team adminstrator, said: “It was so lovely to be recognised by Marjorie.

“Because there are only five of us, we are a very tight knit team and do everything together.

“Our group helps Bassetlaw cardiac patients, for example heart failure patients, get back on track with exercise and education classes on healthy living.

NHS groups don’t tend to get nominated for anything, so this was a special surprise.”

Our Guardian Roses are generously donated by Walker’s House of Flowers which is located in the Priory Shopping Centre.
