Banned Eastwood biker late for work tried to outrun cops in Mansfield

Jack Thomas Dainty, 21, of Chapel Street, Eastwood, admitted driving while disqualified and without insurance and failing to stop when he appeared at Mansfield Magistrates Court on Thursday.

Neil Hollett, prosecuting, said police were waiting for Dainty on Rosemary Street, in Mansfield, after receiving a tip-off he was riding to work on a Yamaha 125 motorbike on July 2 at 5.50pm.

“He accelerated away from them through red traffic lights and on the wrong side of the road,” he said.

Dainty, who was unrepresented, said: “I completely messed up. I have just been taken on full time.

“I will never do it again.”

The court heard he was disqualified in April for six months.

Sarah Alderton, for the probation service, said on the day of the offence Dainty had argued with his girlfriend and she wasn’t willing to drive him as usual.

“He states that in the future to avoid this situation his bike will stay at his girlfriend’s mother’s address,” she said.

District Judge Andrew Meachin gave him a 12 month community order and imposed a 28 day curfew from 8pm to 7am.

He must also carry out 60 hours of unpaid work and six points were added to his licence.

He was fined £369 for failing to stop and ordered to pay £85 court costs and a £85 victim surcharge.
