A five-day gross misconduct hearing heard how Inspector Zoe Hallam lied about the extent of her injuries from a car accident so she could retire on medical grounds.

The misconduct, which was proven and concluded on Wednesday (December 10) occurred between December 2011 and November 2013.

The hearing was told how Hallam told doctors and colleagues at Nottinghamshire Police the back injuries she got from a car crash in 2011 were so severe that she could not drive for more than 15 minutes.

But she was then seen enjoying a family holiday to France, where she was secretly filmed rowing a dinghy and cycling.

The allegations were proven and she was dismissed from the force.

Assistant Chief Constable Simon Torr chaired the hearing.

He said: “Nottinghamshire Police expects all officers to uphold the force values on honesty and integrity and we demand exemplary standards of behaviour from everyone who works in policing.

“When it is found that someone breaches those standards then we will take action.

“We have a responsibility to the public that we serve to give them the assurance that our officers and staff can be trusted to tell the truth.”
