Awards recognised teachers and students across the county
Students, teachers and assistant teachers from schools throughout the county have been recognised for their achievements and ability to inspire others.
The Lincolnshire Media Golden Apple Awards for 2018 attracted 180 entries for student awards including sport, technology, young authors, artists and performers.
Teachers and assistant teachers were also nominated by students, parents and schools.
Students, teachers and assistants were presented with awards at North Kesteven Academy.
The winner of the special school teacher of the year award was Gary Johnson from the Aegir Specialist Academy, Gainsborough.
Coun Patricia Bradwell OBE, Executive Councillor for Children’s Services, said: “It’s not just the traditional subjects and exams that children and young people are thriving in, but in other areas like voluntary work in the community, sports activities or inspiring others around them to achieve their best.
“And of course, the dedication and support of teachers and assistants play a huge part in this success and these awards are a fitting way to recognise and reward this excellence.”
Debbie Barnes OBE, Director of Children’s Services, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity to showcase the talent we have in schools across the county.
“Many students have overcome adversity and challenges in day to day life and still do amazing things while keeping on top of their school work.
“I know our teachers and assistants do a wonderful job in ensuring children and young people feel genuinely valued, cared for and supported to achieve their potential.”
