Rotherham College of Arts and Technology’s (RCAT) Rother Valley Day Nursery was honoured with the Quality in Action award by Rotherham Council for their commitment to quality.

At a celebratory event held at the Rother Valley Campus in Dinnington, parents and youngsters were invited a buffet and to watch the council present the award to the nursery staff.

Helen Talbot, assistant principal for RCAT, said: “This is a very proud moment for staff and for parents.”

“The staff have worked so effectively as a cohesive team to provide a top quality provision for those children, parents and guardians who access the nursery provision.”

The achievement came following a number of improvements to customer care.

The team have worked hard to develop partnerships with parents and increase communication including providing a notice board for parents, a ‘talking wall’, and stay and play sessions.

Youngsters also took part in a tree planting ceremony to honour the nursery’s achievements.

Sharon Stones, from Rotherham Council who presented the award, said: “The nursery staff constantly strive to improve their practice and provision and are proactive in reflecting on what they offer the children and how this can be improved.”

“They are all very dedicated in their work and constantly put the needs of the children first.”
