Autumn fair success for Maltby youngsters

YOUNGSTERS in Maltby did themselves proud recently when they organised a successful autumn fair.

More than 100 people attended the autumn fair which had been organised by young people who attend Maltby Linx Youth and Community Centre.

A team of five teenagers, aged between 14 and 18, have been meeting after school on Mondays to organise the event and ensure it was a success.

“It went really well. The young people organised it all themselves and we must have had a hundred plus people come throughout the day,” said youth worker Laura Howard.

There was a variety of stalls and games for visitors to enjoy, including a tombola and refreshments.

“The young people organised it all. They wanted to raise money to put events on for the community and raised about £220,” added Laura.

“It’s the first fair they have ever done. They’ve all said that because it was so successful they want to do it again and make it an annual event.”
