Assault was unprovoked

Too much alcohol led to an ‘unprovoked attack’ on a man after a night out, a court heard.

James Robert House, 20, of Browning Close saw his victim as he walked home from a night out in the early hours of 4th September.

Kate Beardmore, prosecuting, said: “He started shouting abuse at him calling him a grass. The defendant then grabbed him with both hands and started to punch him over the body, head and face.”

Ian Pridham, defending, said House had ‘little recollection’ of what had happened because of the amount he had had to drink. House admits common assault.

Chair of the Bench Paul Meeney branded the attack an ‘extremely nasty incident’ and adjourned the case until 24th October for probation reports to be prepared.
