Assault in boozy row

A WHITWELL man assaulted his sister during a boozy row over their mother’s money, a court heard.

Police were called at 10pm on 6th May after Patricia McClune was pushed over opposite the Holmefield Arms in the village.

Ms McClune sustained a small cut to the back of her head, Laura Dyke, prosecuting, told Chesterfield magistrates.

Her brother, Michael, 52, of Larpit Green, was arrested for assault and claimed his sister had been taking advantage of their mother’s finances and it had caused friction between them. He admitted assault and was fined £285, with £85 costs.

No compensation was awarded by the bench.
