Denise Winson, 34, of Wellington Street, Eastwood, admitted stealing the goods from the Asda in Sutton on May 16, but denied responsibility for another trolley which was found to contain another £246 of goods.

Yvonne Wragg, mitigating, said: “Another theft took place at the same time. An unknown male attempted to leave with a shopping trolley full of goods but he left it.

“The police put two and two together that these two shopping trollies must be one big theft.

“My client clearly said she knew nothing about the other theft. She accepts what was in her trolley was £500.”

George Speed, prosecuting, said: “She told police she had gone to that specific Asda because she heard it was very big.

“She wanted to do a trolley dash. She had no money due to her addiction to heroin and crack cocaine. The plan was to call someone to pick her up.”

The court heard she last appeared before magistrates in February 2015 for a similar offence.

She was given unconditional bail until June 9 at Nottingham Crown Court where she will be sentenced for this theft and another matter.

Magistrates banned her from entering any Asda store in Nottinghamshire before that date.
