Arrested after knife robbery

A GAINSBOROUGH man has been arrested on suspicion of robbery after shop staff were threatened with a knife in the town.

The incident took place at McColls Newsagent in Spital Terrace, Gainsborough, at around 9.48pm on the evening of Thursday 31st August.

An offender went into the newsagents shop brandishing a small knife.

He then demanded cash from the staff.

When the staff refused, the man went behind the counter and then stole tobacco and some scratch cards.

Police officers then attended the scene and arrested a 43-year-old local man a short time later.

A spokesman from Lincs Police said that the suspect is currently helping police with their enquiries at Lincoln Police Station.
