Detectives are appealing for information to identify an offender whose attempt to carry out a robbery in Worksop left his victim requiring hospital surgery.
The incident took place on a footpath linking Lancastrian Way and the Sainsbury’s store in Prospect Precinct at around 10pm on Saturday 18th June.
The victim, a 42-year-old man, placed his mobile phone in a pocket as he and his partner were approached by someone running towards them.
As the suspect ran past the couple, he pushed the victim in the chest and attempted to grab the phone from his pocket.
The victim fell to the ground and sustained a serious elbow injury, while the offender continued running in the direction of Lancastrian Way.
The offender is described as a white male in his mid 20s, around 6ft tall and of skinny build. His face is described as gaunt and dirty. He was wearing a dark baseball cap and a dark grey or black hooded top and jogging bottoms.
Anyone who recognises the description of the offender, saw any suspicious activity in the area of Lancastrian Way at that time or knows anything at all about the incident is urged to call Nottinghamshire Police on 0300 300 99 99 and ask for PC Rebecca Withell at Worksop CID on extension 807 7135.
Alternatively, they can call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
