The offender told the victim he was currently fixing the roof of the house next door in Church Road and could see the victim’s roof also required repair.

He offered to fix it for £120, which the victim agreed to.

The elderly man went into his house to get the cash and was followed by the offender.

A Nottinghamshire Police spokesman said: “As the victim began to count out the cash, the offender stopped him and suggested they count it in the back garden.

“Once round the back of the house, the offender grabbed the man’s wrist, took a large sum of cash and fled.

“The victim was left with a badly bruised wrist.”

The offender is described as white, in his early 20s, around 5ft 8ins tall and of stocky build.

He had a round face and short brown hair, and was wearing a plain yellow t-shirt.
