Anston: Turn-out at consultation event was around 130

Residents came out to see plans for housing and employment development over the next 15 years.

“We had around 130 people through the door on Tuesday,” said Andy Duncan, planning policy manager at Rotherham Council.

“We have tried to be a lot clearer in this consultation about which are the sites that could be allocated for development, and which are being taken out of the greenbelt and held in reserve for potential development later on.”

“While we are focusing on housing and employment, there are also maps showing wildlife sites, conservation areas and the like.”

“One benefit of holding these drop-in events is that members of the planning department are here to explain it to people. Rather than hear a version o things from a neighbour they can talk to us and get real information about when things might happen as well as where.”

“We are not deaf to people’s concerns. We are asking people to get their comments in to us and they will be taken on board.”

• More drop-ins are scheduled up until 29th July 2013 when the consultation ends.
