Kath, also of North Anston, hopes to raise hundreds for the hospice, which needs more than £3 million a year to keep its doors open to support children and young adults with life-shortening conditions.

“It’s a personal challenge for me, as well as giving me the opportunity to raise money for such a fabulous charity,” she said.

“So many people do incredibly amazing things to help raise money for Bluebell Wood and I also need to do my bit.

“I see first-hand the real difference Bluebell Wood makes to families across the region.

“Those families are incredibly amazing and deal with so much.

“Doing the Great North Run is nothing in comparison to what they all face.

“I have completed the run before, also for Bluebell Wood.

“I’m hoping for a time of sub-three hours.”
