Anston Festival Day is on Sunday 23rd June, inspired by last year’s hugely successful Jubilee celebrations, which attracted around 2,000 people.

From 12 noon until 3pm families will flock to Anston recreation ground, just off Ryton Road and next to Anston Cricket Club.

You can bring your own picnic rug, sandwiches and drinks, and enjoy the best Anston has to offer.

The Mayor and Mayoress of Rotherham will open the event which is free for everyone to attend.

And there will be a distinct 1960s theme, marking the fact that The Beatles began 50 years ago this year.

Not only will there be a 60s fans competition, but the sounds of the swinging decade will ring across the park, as Beatles Tribute act, Beatlemania, performs live.

Other musical entertainment includes a children’s choir.

And kids will be kept busy with a face painter, balloon modeller and stalls from local clubs and societies.

Quad bike rides, a tug of war, bowling lessons and walks in Anston Stones Wood will highlight just what fun can be had in Anston’s public spaces.

“We want people to know that there are lots of good things happening in the village regularly,” said Anston Festival Group member June Thomas.

The Cricket Club will hold a fun day alongside the event.
