Annie is singing her way to success

A TALENTED teenager from Maltby is hoping a singing competition can make her dreams come true.

Annie Fuller wowed judges in the recent auditions for the Open Mic UK 2012 competition at Sheffield City Hall.

She was given the thumbs up to go into the next round after a stunning audition which saw her sing and play on the piano, Christina Perri’s Jar of Hearts.

The 14-year-old will now go onto the regional finals which will see her perform infront of a live audience.

Annie, of Conrad Drive, is no stranger to performing.

She was guest performer at Maltby Hill Top School’s version of the X Factor earlier this year and also took part in the latest performing arts showcase at her school, Maltby Academy.

Her mum Hazel said all her family are extremely proud of what she has achieved.

She added: “All her family and friends love to listen to her performing and we will all be there cheering her on in the regional final.”

The regional final takes place at Sheffield City Hall on Sunday 30th September, where constestants will perform infront of hundreds of audience members.

They will be trying to win a place in the national final at The O2 in London where there will get the chance to impress guests from record labels, agencies and the entertainment industry.

Chris Grayston, Events Coordinator for Open Mic UK said: “We are looking to find an act that has something unique to offer, another Birdy that can go all the way, with both the ability to deliver a strong live performance but also potential to become a professional recording artist.”

“There is so much talent out there I’m sure we can find that star again.”

Open Mic UK 2012 is an national competition which searches for the best singer/songwriters, rappers and vocalists from around the country, who perform with covers of their own material.

Previous winners include Birdy, who is signed to Warner, and has in the last 12 months had hits all over Europe and is set to conquer the US with a collaboration with Mumford and Sons.
