Andrew Stennett has been teaching people to ride at Grove House Stables in Misterton since 1991.

Horse welfare is at the very heart of his business.

But not all horses in the UK are so fortunate.

Every year, the number of horses requiring assistance from the British Horse Society Welfare team increases, placing extra strain on already tight resources.

As well as essential welfare work the team also seek to change the behaviour, through education, of people who do not look after their horses properly.

From September 23 to October 4, Andrew will take part in the Riding with Kings Challenge Ride across the triangle of Delhi, Bikaner and Jaipur.

His horse for the journey will be a Marwari horse, a breed descending from the war horses of the ruling families of feudal India.

A tough, brave breed, these horses were known as ‘superior to all men’.
