Alison Doxey will compete in the RHS Chelsea Florist of the Year competition after winning her way through the central region qualifying heat.

The competition will be held at the world’s most famous flower show in Chelsea, London.

It showcases the very best in professional retail floristry and is staged within the floristry section of the great pavilion at the 2013 RHS Chelsea Flower Show.

Alison said it was a ‘very exciting’ achievement. She will compete against 16 other regional finalists at the show.

Alison was recently awarded a Master Diploma In Professional Floristry (MDPF) which means she is now one of around 50 florists in the country to have gained this qualification.

Alison trained at New College, Nottingham, for three years before completing her training at the Academy of Floral Art in Covent Garden, London for the last 18 months.

“I am thrilled to be a part of Chelsea, especially as the show celebrates its centenary,” she said.

“I have always loved visiting the flower show and have been in awe of the displays in the great pavilion. I can’t believe I am actually going to be there. I just can’t wait to get started.”

The RHS Chelsea Flower Show runs from 21st - 25th May 2013.
