Advice for patients with appointments at The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust on Wednesday

ELECTIVE activity and outpatient clinics at Rotherham Hospital and Rotherham Community Health Centre on Wednesday have been cancelled.

Some elective services and outpatient clinics for patients that are considered part of essential services will go ahead as normal.

This includes patients with cancer and other very serious conditions.

A spokesman for Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust said: “The Trust has made every effort to inform patients about cancellations both in writing and on the phone.”

“But if patients have any further queries, or are unsure whether to attend, they should telephone the contact centre on 01709 427949 or the clinic detailed on their appointment letter directly.”

“For anyone feeling unwell, we would ask them to consider the most appropriate place to seek medical advice.”

“If their condition is not life threatening or urgent, please think twice before attending Accident and Emergency.”

A new telephone advice line is operating in Rotherham to direct patients to appropriate services.

Patients who need immediate health advice and can’t wait for a GP appointment, can dial 0333 321 8282 to speak to a nurse or GP who will advise the appropriate treatment, refer to other services or make an appointment direct with the Walk In Centre or out of hours GP.

The service operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
