Mansfield Baptists will be holding special events and services throughout July in celebration of their 200th Anniversary this year.
The Rosemary street church is the third since 1815 and is used as a centre for worship in the community.
July will see a variety of events, including a community fair, exhibitions, school and community presentations and Songs of Praise with hymns from over the 200 years.
A special history is being produced spanning across the two centuries.
The events co-ordinator, Chris Clark (71), said: “We’re all feeling very excited and hoping that we’ll get lots of people from local communities to come and see the displays and what the church does.”
The church also hosts a coffee shop, craft circle, toddlers group and youth services – as well as holding a night shelter for the homeless and working with church members working on overseas missions.
As part of the anniversary celebrations, Mansfield Baptist Church is trying to re-unite with many people who have had connections with it.
