Man injured by masked thieves in Worksop knife attack

A man is believed to have had a knife held to his throat by masked thieves in a street robbery in Worksop.

The men were reported to have been wearing surgical masks when threatened the victim and demanded money.

They stole £20 cash and his tobacco after searching through his pockets and during the struggle the man suffered injuries to his hand, hip and arms.

The victim was walking home from Worksop Town Centre when he was approached in Cleveland Close in Carlton-in-Lindrick on Tuesday, June 8.

He tried to fight off the men, but he was pinned to the floor and the men searched his pockets before leaving the scene.

Detective Constable Andrew Brownless of Nottinghamshire Police is leading the investigation and is appealing for witnesses.

He said: “This must have been a terrifying experience for the victim. Three masked men wearing dark clothing approached him, with one allegedly carrying a knife.

“They threatened him, demanded money and stole cash before the suspects slashed at him with the weapon. They then ran away from the scene.

“The man was treated at the scene and suffered injuries which aren’t believed to be life threatening.

“Officers will remain in the area on high visibility patrols. The local community can be reassured that we work tirelessly to investigate violent crime when it happens and will always look to take appropriate action.

“The police were called at around 4.20pm on Tuesday, June 8, to Salisbury Close in Worksop following the reported robbery.”
