WIN! Tickets to The Saturdays

There’s no denying that The Saturday’s are one of Britain’s biggest girl bands around at the moment. Writer Lucy Needham caught up with member Una Healy to talk about their success.

With a new single and album soon to be released and their first headline arena tour beginning in December, The Saturdays are more in demand than ever.

I caught up with pregnant band member Una Healy (who shows no signs of slowing down) to find out how the girls are coping with their hectic schedules. She tells me the band are busy planning and rehearsing for the On Your Radar tour and will be on the road from the beginning of December until Christmas.

The girls are certainly getting into the festive mood early with new single, My Heart Takes Over.

It’s quite a change in direction from the dance floor vibe of previous single All Fired Up. Una tells me delving into different genres is all part of the fun of The Saturdays.

“We like to mix it up,” she says. “We don’t want to keep releasing party tunes because we’re not a dance band. That’s the great thing about being in a pop band you can experiment with different types of music. You can do a dance tune and then a ballad and people won’t be too shocked.”

And so what is the new single about?

“It’s a love song really and it’s actually quite sad,” she says. “It’s about where you’ve broken up with a guy but you’re not sure if he still loves you.”

The single will feature on new album On Your Radar. The tour will begin on the 2nd December in Bournemouth. This will be the girls’ first headline arena tour and the band can’t wait to perform in front of their fans.

“It’s a really big, high energy show. It’s going to be a big party and we want everyone to come along and have high expectations for it to be a really good night out.”

Una adds: “There will be something for everyone.”

The Saturdays play Capital FM Arena in Nottingham on Monday 12th December. Tickets are available from www.ticketmaster.co.uk.
