After its successful launch in November, The Comedy Club is returning to town and this month will be hosted by James Cook and feature the upcoming comic genius of Andy Kind and Howard Read.

Professional stand-up comedian Andy Kind has been part of the comedy circuit since January 2005 and has performed all over the country, winning awards and acclaim from fans and critics alike.

Since winning ‘Anything for Laffs’, he has gone on to be recognised as one of the warmers and most engaging comperes in British comedy.

Described by The Scotsman as ‘Terrific’ and by BBC Online as a ‘future star’, Andy has been featured on BBC1, ITV, Channel 4 and national radio.

In addition, he has also been asked to support the likes of Tim Vine and Milton Jones on their national tours.

Also taking centre stage will be Howard Read who is best known as the other half to the animated six-year-old virtual stand up comic known as Little Howard.

Together they have appeared on some of the biggest TV shows on three continents, performed in front of The Queen, been nominated for The Perrier Award, and had three series of the award-winning and critically-acclaimed Little Howard’s Big Question on BBC1, BBC2 and CBBC.

The night will be hosted by James Cook, who is no stranger to the entertainment game.

He has been onstage with A-ha, presented Lenny Henry with his Walk of Fame Star and been a guest judge on the Dancing on Ice Tour at Nottingham Arena in front of 10,000 people.

James also won a Jongleurs/Spike Milligan award for stand-up in 2004 and is now back in the comedy circuit full time after seven years as an NTL award-winning commercial radio presenter.

His act mixes jokes and sarcasm with a quick wit and excellent improvisation skills that make him an accomplished compere.

A Comedy Club spokesman said this was a night out ‘not to be missed’.

“The November launch saw TV’s star Paul Tonkinson supported by Paul Kerensa and Tony Vino play to a packed and appreciative audience,” he said.

“Some of the comments made as the audience left the show included ‘It was a great night out’, ‘Fantastic’ and ‘I can’t wait for the next one’ so why not come along and enjoy a brilliant night out?”

Tickets for the 8pm show on Thursday 21st February are priced £8 (£10 on the door) and include a free drink on arrival.
