WIN! Tickets to The Levellers in Lincoln

ROCK legends The Levellers are heading to the region to play a barn-storming gig at The Engine Shed in Lincoln - and we have tickets to be won by lucky readers.

Musicians Mark Chadwick and Jeremy Cunningham met in The Eagle in Brighton in 1988.

Discovering that they had a fair bit in common, including a left wing view of politics, they decided to form a band. They soon added Charlie Heather on drums and Jon Sevink on fiddle and, after a short while, Alan Miles to play harmonica, guitar and the mandolin.

Since then, the band have released 14 albums, topped the charts, and had a string of legendary hits including Belaruse, This Garden, Fantasy, Hope St and Just The One.

The band were awarded the Roots Award at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards in 2011. Presented by host, BBC Radio 2’s Jeremy Vine, he stated that the award was for a band who “stays true to folk and where it came from. Only the strong survive, and The Levellers have done it by staying true to their roots.”

Their latest album, 2012’s Static on the Airwaves, is out now.

The Levellers play The Engine Shed, Lincoln on Friday 16th November. Tickets are £22.50 and are available by visiting www.engineshed.co.uk or calling 0844 888 8766.
