We had booked in for three hours of pure relaxation and indulgence. As we took off our shoes and left the burdens of everyday life behind us, we were handed a refreshing hot towel and shown around the boutique spa and its luxury accommodation.

Our hosts Rachel and Daniel Walker had a calming influence from the start, preparing complimentary drinks and showing us around the facilities. The mother and son team have spent eight years transforming this former Methodist chapel on High Street in the village.

And what a transformation. They have lovingly enhanced its historic features, adding an air of contemporary elegance and luxury.

I can only describe feeling like a Hollywood star, walking down the sparkling hallways and into the lavish spa room.

And the best bit of all - it was exclusively ours. When you book at Church Spa, you have exclusive use of the facilities.

We bathed in privacy, dipping in and out of the heated swimming pool and the therapy hot tub, which used water massage jets to ease away any aches and pains.

A steam room was the perfect place to detox and purify our skin, and cleanse our airways leaving us feeling refreshed and invigorated.

Then came the foot massage and cleanse. Rachel and Daniel’s expert hands smoothed away the tension in our tired feet. It was a lovely touch, and just one of the treatments on offer at Church Spa.

There are a number of treatment rooms where you can indulge in an impressive range of beauty, holistic and aesthetic procedures. Relaxing really isn’t a problem inside these walls. But for a true escape, Church Spa can accommodate you in one of three luxury bedrooms.

Your boudoir awaits you, boasting en-suite bathrooms, flat screen TVs, GHD straighteners and fluffy black towels embellished with Swarovski crystals. Whether you are on an over night business trip, a long holiday or a girly weekend away, Rachel and Daniel will endeavour to cater for your every need. And their attentive service was certainly a hit with us. We felt welcomed from start to finish and have vowed to return again with friends and family.
