EDINBURGH is one of the jewels in the UK’s crown.

It’s a city of history and culture, with tourist attractions that cater for all.

I took my family to Scotland over the Easter break for a short stay in Edinburgh, followed by a few nights outside the city in the village of Crossford.

In the city we stayed at the beautiful Best Western Bruntsfield, a couple of minutes drive from the centre.

Being so close to the action we were able to cram in attractions and return to the hotel in time for our three-year-old’s bedtime.

The highlights included the National Museum of Scotland, Our Dynamic Earth, Edinburgh Zoo and Camera Obscura.

The museum is a colossal building full of incredible exhibitions, with a three story hall dedicated to life sized stuffed animals and sea creatures.

Our Dynamic Earth boasts an interactive voyage through science and discovery, with a ‘4D’ flight and a ceiling cinematic experience.

The zoo is well worth setting aside a large chunk of a day, as there is so much to see, plenty of family friendly talks by staff, and it winds right up into the hills.

Back in the centre, just below the famous castle is Camera Obscura – an entertaining theatre of visual oddities and illusions.

The mirror maze and vortex tunnel bamboozle and disorientate, and the views from the top of the building are spectacular.

For a more relaxed time we moved on to the Best Western’s Keavil House in Crossford, half an hour’s drive out of the city and across the Forth Road Bridge.

It was an ideal base for trips to Deep Sea World (Scotland’s national aquarium), and Dunfermline Abbey where King Robert the Bruce is buried.

Deep Sea World has one of Europe’s longest ‘under water’ tunnels that gives breathtaking sights of several huge sharks.

To win a pair of flights to the city, answer the following question.

Q) Where is the tomb of King Robert the Bruce?
