Top choir heading to Crossing

THE UPLIFTING sounds of a popular and acclaimed choral group are heading to Worksop this month to help you shake off those winter blues.

Continuing its policy of showcasing and encouraging talented young musicians, The Crossing on Newcastle Street is looking forward to hosting the Scunthorpe Co-operative Junior Choir.

These superb young singers are directed by Susan Hollingworth, accompanied by Grace Baines, and their high performance standard is confirmed by their 2008 Radio 3 Choir of the Year award. Following this, their success continued with prestigious appearances - including one at the Royal Albert Hall.

The 85 - 90 young Scunthorpe singers performing at The Crossing concert will be between the ages of 10 and 20 and an instrumental element will be introduced into the programme in the form of The Lydian Trio (Elizabeth Webster, Ellen Wakeman, Claire Potter) playing respectively piano, oboe and cello.

“We are privileged to welcome a Youth Choir with this proven vocal calibre,” said The Crossing’s concerts programmer. “In particular, local schools and their teachers with a specific interest in singing might like to hear them”

The Scunthorpe Co-operative Junior Choir will be at The Crossing, Worksop, on Saturday 25th February. Doors open 6.45pm.

Ticket prices are £10 for adults, and £4 for children and students.
