Hide AdBorn in the East End of London, he was evacuated to Northampton during the war and served national service in the RAF before entering into show business.
He performed in a variety of theatres all over the country before his break finally came on television as a talkshow host.
The Des O’Connor Show ran for eight years in the ‘60s before a handful of name adaptations saw him settle on our screens for a further 30 years with the renowned Des O’Connor Tonight.

He is today established as one of the world’s most popular and best loved entertainers.
And he will be bringing all his charm and charisma with a dash of sophistication to the Retford Majestic Theatre on 25th May.
