After celebrating the 40th anniversary of their album Ruby last year, this year includes the 40th birthday of their 1976 release, Black and White.

In recent years, the month of March has become synonymous with The Stranglers live and 2016 will be no different when the punk-era iconoclasts once again take to the road, this time with the Black and White Tour.

For the first time, The Stranglers will play live, in its entirety, the ground-breaking album.

Black and White was, and continues to be, one of the most influential albums of the late 1970s.

With its vibrant sound, it reached number two in the UK album chart, marking the dawn of a new era and inspiring a whole new roster of post-punk bands.

The track list includes such gems as Tank, Toiler on the Sea, Nice n’ Sleazy and their cover version of the Bacharach and David classic Walk On By.

In addition to the complete live performance of Black and White, the Stranglers will play a further selection of favourites, old and new, from their extensive and memorable catalogue.

And as if that wasn’t enough, the band will also be joined by special guests The Alarm for the tour.

The tour is at Nottingham’s Rock City on Monday, March 7.

Tickets are £25.30 at www.rock-city.co.uk

They are also at Sheffield’s O2 Academy on Thursday, March 17.

Tickets, priced from £24 are now available online at www.sheffieldacademy.co.uk
