“Are we nearly there yet?” is a familiar cry from the youngest passengers.
(I used to ask the question frequently as a child and my own did the same!) And the question is not limited to the young. Sometimes, the time it takes to get to a destination seems to take so much longer than we would choose. This weekend marks the beginning of the four week journey through Advent to Christmas. Rather than asking, “Are we nearly there yet?”, let’s use this season to practise the discipline of waiting and patience and to treasure each day of the journey rather than wishing the days away.
