I wonder if you’ve ever thought of “shopping” as being “citizenship”?
Where we shop and what we buy can be governed not only by the price-tag but by our principles. Which of us would consider it right to be ripped off for what we had worked to produce? Jesus said, “Do to others as you would have them do to you”. (Luke 6: 31) ‘Fairtrade Fortnight’, 23rd February – 8th March, is an opportunity to demonstrate that principle: by choosing products bearing the Fairtrade logo we can ensure producers receive a fair price and thereby treat them as we would like to be treated.
