BBC Radio 2 celebrity organist Nigel Ogden will be treating his audience to a concert with a few Valentine themed ingredients at The Crossing next weekend.
Nigel has been the presenter of BBC Radio 2’s longest running specialist music programme, The Organist Entertains, since 1980.
Mentored by the legendary Reginald Dixon, Ogden is passionate in his belief that the organ is there to be enjoyed by all.
Recognised as one of the country’s most popular performers, Nigel Ogden’s versatility and virtuosity are guaranteed to delight all but the most extreme musical tastes.
He is equally at home at the console of a Mighty Wurlitzer, a cathedral organ or playing many of the superb instruments that adorn our churches and chapels.
A reputation as one of the finest exponents of silent film accompaniment has seen him providing music for full length film presentations in venues as diverse as the Plaza Super Cinema in Stockport, Symphony Hall in Birmingham and the Finlandia Hall in Helsinki, Finland.
He is regularly heard providing incidental music for radio and television productions which have included Dennis Potter’s Lipstick On Your Collar. He has even been heard on Buffy The Vampire Slayer. In front of the camera, he has made several TV appearances including Songs Of Praise.
Nigel Ogden will be performing at The Crossing on Newcastle Street, Worksop on Saturday 12th February 2011 at 7.30pm. Doors open 6.45pm.
Tickets are £12, conc £11, children and students £4, and are available from The Crossing’s welcome desk, by phone on 01909 475421 or by email at email@example.com
